Michael Larsen, Project Manager at KPC is responsible for the construction site at Krimsvej at Amager Strandpark in Copenhagen. KPC is building 190 new apartments for Lærernes Pension. A challenge with a project like this in an city area, is the lack of space for onsite office and personnel buildings, while keeping the construction site clear. KPC asked Ramirent for help and we decided to visit to check it out.
I know that Ramirent can solve what needs to be solved, but also come up with suggestions for improvements.
Michael, tell us about the project!
KPC develops and builds this project here at the attractive location of Amager Strandpark. The construction site contains approximately 190 buildings divided into three sub-areas, all of them close to the sea, Copenhagen City and the airport. There will be two towers with 15 respectively 16 floors and one main building.
What’s the relationship between KPC and Ramirent?
KPC and Ramirent has had a long and rewarding cooperation. During the years we’ve developed a great partnership. We’ve completed many projects together and there’s always someone I can call at Ramirent if I need help with equipment
What kind of space solution is Ramirent providing you with?
Ramirent is providing KPC with modular buildings for offices and they’ve also planned the needs for things like electricity, water and lighting. They’ve provided us with a total space solution really, from planning and installation to transportation and maintenance. Ramirent has also helped us to produce drawings for the building project. The drawings show the project’s location relative to heights and how much we can intrude on the road. Ramirent has also helped us to resolve the issue with authorities such as municipalities, the metro company and the fire department. For this we’re very pleased with Ramirent. They’ve done a good work solving our problems.
What challenges have you faced during this project when it comes to the space solutions?
The biggest challenge for this project has been the the lack of space for onsite office and personnel buildings while keeping the construction site clear. Ramirent solved this by placing their Flex-modules which were only six meters deep, just between the metro line and the road, so that we could both fit our temporary offices and have the construction site clear for transports and so on. The modular buildings will be used by lots of people working here and it’s important to find a good location, so we don’t need to move them unnecessarily.
Why did KPC choose Ramirent to provide a space solution?
What’s good about Ramirent is that if there’s anything we need help with, we just call them and they come over to fix it. Also, there’s the relationship between KPC and Ramirent – we’ve been cooperating previously and therefore I know that they can solve what needs to be solved, but also come up with suggestions for improvements.
